How do I get started with the Message Board?

Use the Message Board to publish important messages to your whole company or chosen teams, keep them easy to find, and see who has read them.

🙋 This article is for: Company Admins and Managers who want to share important messages with their teams.

⭐ Available on: all plans.

What is the Message Board?

The Message Board is a tab on Home, next to Feed. Admins and managers publish messages there for the whole company or for chosen teams, departments or cohorts. Unlike Feed posts, messages stay easy to find until you archive them. Your team gets a notification when a new message is published, and you can see who has read it.

When should I use the Message Board instead of the Feed?

  • Use the Feed for quick updates, celebrations and conversation. Posts move down as new ones arrive.

  • Use the Message Board for things people need to find again or must not miss: announcements, campaigns and promotions, process changes, onboarding material, and reference content like price lists, guides or PDFs.

What your team sees

  • A Message Board tab on Home with the number of unread messages.

  • Messages as cards. Featured messages come first, then the newest. Unread messages have a red dot.

  • Search by title or description, a Category filter and an Unread toggle.

  • Clicking a message opens it in a side panel. Opening it marks it as read.

  • A notification in SalesScreen, and a push notification in the mobile app, when a new message is published for them. In the mobile app, users can read messages; creating and managing messages is done on the web.

Publish your first message

  1. Click New message in quick actions.

  2. Add a Title, a short Description and the Content: rich text, a PDF, a video or a link.

  3. Under Audience, choose the teams, departments or cohorts who should see it.

  4. Optional: add a Cover image and a Category, or turn on Featured to show it first.

  5. Click Save and Preview to see it as your team will, then click Publish.

The message goes live right away and your audience is notified. For all options, see How do I create and publish a message on the Message Board?

Who can publish messages?

  • Company Admins can publish to anyone, and edit or archive every message.

  • Managers can publish to the people they manage: teams they manage, their department if they are a department manager, and cohorts they have access to. They can publish to the whole company only if they have access to all users. Managers edit and archive their own messages.

  • Everyone else, including Supporters, can read messages sent to them.

Tips to get your team reading

  • Feature the one message that matters most right now.

  • Use a few clear categories, for example Campaigns, Processes and Onboarding, so people can filter.

  • Check who has read an important message, and follow up with those who have not.

  • Archive messages that are out of date, so the board stays relevant.

What if this doesn't work?

I can't see the Message Board tab: while the Message Board is in Labs, a Company Admin turns it on in Settings > Labs.

I can't see New message: only Company Admins and Managers can publish. Ask an admin to check your role.

Someone can't see a message: check that they are in the team, department or cohort you chose under Audience, and that Roles is not limited to managers. Archived messages are hidden from everyone except admins and the author.
