đ This article is for: Company Admins and Managers who create lessons in Learning.
â Available on: all plans, as the Learning add-on. Coins need the Rewards module.
Start a new lesson
Go to Learning and click Manage lessons, then New lesson. You can also use New lesson in quick actions.
Choose Create with AI or Create manually.
Create a lesson with AI
Pick your content: a PDF, rich text, a video or a link.
Click Generate. AI writes a title, a description and 5 quiz questions with the right answers marked.
Click Regenerate for a new version, or Continue to open the lesson and edit everything.
AI needs enough text to work with. If it can't find enough, try a longer document, video or link. Create with AI and Suggest questions in the quiz are available when Scout AI is turned on for your account.
Add the content
Title (up to 80 characters) and Description, shown on the lesson card.
Content, one of:
PDF, up to 10 MB.
Rich text, with images and GIFs.
Video, up to 100 MB (mp4, webm or mov).
Link, starting with https://.
None, if the quiz is the lesson.
Thumbnail, the image on the card.
Build the quiz
Click Add question and choose Single choice, Multiple choice or True / False.
Write the question, add at least two answers and mark the correct one (or several, for multiple choice).
Set the Points for the question. Harder questions can count more.
In the quiz settings, set the Pass threshold (%) (100% by default) and choose whether learners can try again after failing (Allow retry after failing). A question only counts as correct when the learner picks exactly the right answers. Answers are shown in a new order each time the quiz opens.
You can also skip the quiz. Then the learner completes the lesson by ticking I confirm I have read the lesson and clicking Submit.
Choose who takes it
Under Lesson audience, pick teams, departments, cohorts or named people (one kind at a time). Only people in the audience can take the lesson. Leave it empty to publish to the whole company. Managers can choose the people they manage, and publish to the whole company only if they have access to all users. If another manager leaves it empty, the lesson goes to the teams they manage.
Set dates
Available from: the lesson goes live and your audience is notified at this time. Leave it empty to publish right away.
Available until: the lesson is archived automatically at this time. People who haven't passed yet get a reminder the day before.
Add coins
The coin settings show when your company uses Rewards.
Coins on pass: paid once, the first time a learner passes.
Coin budget: the most this lesson can pay in total. When it is used up, learners can still pass but get no coins. Leave it empty for no limit.
If your account uses coins budgets, the coins come out of the creator's budget, and the editor shows how much is available. Company Admins can create a lesson on behalf of another admin or manager under Create on behalf of, while the lesson is a draft.
Organize it
Category: learners can filter lessons by category. Type a new name to create one.
Tags: only admins and managers see them, for filtering in Manage lessons.
Preview and publish
Click Save and Preview to save a draft and see the lesson as your team will. You can't take the quiz on a lesson you created.
Click Publish. If Available from is in the future, the button says Schedule instead.
The lesson is Live (or Scheduled) and your audience gets a notification, a push notification and an email when it goes live.
What if this doesn't work?
I can't save or publish: the editor tells you what is missing. A title and content are required, the end date must be after the start date, the coin budget must be at least the coins on pass, and an end date in the past must be changed or cleared before you publish.
Create with AI says there isn't enough content: use a longer document, video or link, or paste more text.
I don't see Create with AI: Scout AI is turned off for your account.
My team didn't get a notification: check that the lesson is Live, not Scheduled, and that they are in the Lesson audience. People can turn off learning emails in their profile settings, but they still get in-app notifications.
