How do I create a Custom Target competition in SalesScreen?

You create a Custom target competition by using the Standard competition type, turning on Goals, and entering a specific goal value for each participant so they race to hit their own target.

What makes it “Custom target”?
Unlike normal Target competitions, goals exist only inside this competition. They do not use or change your regular monthly/quarterly targets. You set a custom goal per user/team just for this competition.

Create a Standard competition

  1. Go to Competitions.

  2. Click + New competition.

  3. Under Browse, select Standard.

Step 1 – Choose who is competing and what they compete on

  1. In Step 1: Who is competing?, choose one of:

    1. Users – individual people compete against each other.

    1. Teams – existing SalesScreen teams compete as groups (results are summed per team).

    2. Custom Teams – temporary, ad‑hoc groups you build just for this competition (for example, mixing people from different teams into new “North vs South” groups).

  2. Select the participants you want in the competition.

Step 2 – What would you like to compete on?

  1. In Step 2: What would you like to compete on?, pick the metric, for example:

    • Single metric → Revenue Sold (value)

Step 3 – When is it?

  1. Setting the competition start and end dates.

Step 4 – Turn on goals and set a custom target per participant

  1. In Step 4: Would you like to set goals?, click Yes.

  2. Click the “X goals not set” link (for example “10 goals not set”).

  3. The Goals window opens. For each participant:

    • Enter a goal value in the goal column.

  4. To give the same goal to several participants:

    • Select the rows you want.

    • Click Edit selected and type the shared goal value.

  5. Click Save when all goal values are set.

Now each user/team has its own custom target for this competition.

Step 5 – Configure prizes and advanced options

  1. In Step 5: Choose your prizes and winners, define:

    • How many winners there are (Top 1, Top 3, etc.).

    • Which prizes they receive (coins or custom prizes).

  2. In Step 6: Set advanced options, configure:

    • Show Top X (how many positions are visible).

    • Privacy settings.

    • Winner declaration rule (for example, first to reach goal vs best at end).

    • Any tie‑breaker rules and optional winner announcement date.

Step 6 – Publish the competition

  1. Click Save and publish.

  2. In the publish dialog, choose:

    • Playlists (for TV screens)

    • Feeds

    • Notifications you want to send (start, halfway, completed)

  3. Click Save and publish again to launch the competition.

Participants now compete to hit their own goal, not a shared target.

What if this doesn’t work?

Goals option not visible

  • Make sure you selected Standard as the competition type. Goals are not available in all types.

I can’t open the Goals window

  • In Step 4, you must first select Yes to “Would you like to set goals?”, then click the “X goals not set” link.

  • Ensure you already chose participants in Step 1; otherwise there are no rows to show.

The competition ranks by total value instead of % of goal

  • Check that every participant has a goal value saved in the Goals window.

  • If someone is missing a goal, the ranking may fall back to totals instead of progress toward target.
