How do I create a Gift Swap competition in SalesScreen?

You create a Gift Swap competition from Competitions → + New competition → Gift Swap, pick a layout, select users, configure game rules (steal/swap, deadlines, minimum value), add prizes, and then publish it to screens/feeds.

Role
Company Admin or Competition Admin

Plan
Pro and Enterprise (Gamification enabled)

Prerequisites

  • Competitions are enabled for your company

  • At least one metric/activity is configured for the competition to use

  • You know which users will participate and how many gifts/prizes you want to award

Step‑by‑step instructions

Step 1 – Start a new Gift Swap competition

  1. Go to Competitions.

  2. Click + New competition.

  3. In the left menu under Browse, select Gift Swap.

Step 2 – Choose a layout (theme)

  1. You’ll be asked to pick a layout for the competition.

    • The layout controls how the game looks on TV screens (for example Pirate with a beach background and chests).

  2. Select the layout you want and click Create “Gift swap” competition (bottom‑right).

Step 3 – Select participants (users)

Gift Swap is user‑only – teams or company levels are not supported.

  1. Under Participants, the type is fixed to Users.

  2. Open the dropdown and select the users who will take part.

    • You can pick users from all teams across the company or just a specific subset.

Step 4 – Configure competition settings and game rules

In the Settings step, define the basics:

  • Name / Title – how the competition is shown on screens and in lists.

  • Description (optional) – short explanation of the theme or rules.

  • Metric / Report type – which activity is used to trigger gifts (for example Sales, Meetings).

  • Start and end time – when the competition runs.

Then set the Game rules:

  • Steal and swap probability
Set the percentage chance that a steal or swap succeeds. Lower values make it harder to steal/swap, adding extra challenge.

  • Gift open deadline (minutes)
How many minutes the participant has to open a gift after they log an activity that qualifies. After this deadline, they lose that chance.

  • Gift minimum value
The minimum size of the activity required to open a gift.

    • Example: if the metric is measured by Value and you set 100, the user must log a value of 100 or more for the competition to allow them to open a gift.

  • Can users obtain multiple prizes?
Decide whether a user can win more than one gift/prize during the competition.

Step 5 – Add prizes (gifts)

  1. Go to the Prizes step.

  2. Add one or more prizes, either:

    • Coins, or

    • Custom prizes (tickets, dinner, AirPods, a day off, etc.).

  3. Important:

    • If you have 10 participants and you want everyone to receive at least one gift, you must create 10 separate prizes/gifts.

Step 6 – Publish and share

  1. Review all settings (participants, metric, game rules, prizes).

  2. Choose Save and publish to activate the competition.

  3. In the publish dialog, you can:

    • Add the competition to one or more playlists (for TV screens).

    • Share it to relevant feeds if available.

Once published, the Gift Swap competition will start at the scheduled time and gifts will be opened/stolen/swapped according to your rules.

What if this doesn’t work?

I don’t see “Gift Swap” as a competition type
Gift Swap is only available on Pro/Enterprise with Gamification. Check your plan and confirm you have Company Admin / Competition Admin rights. If it’s still missing, contact SalesScreen support.

I can’t select teams or departments as participants
Gift Swap supports users only. This is by design. You can, however, select users from any team to mix cross‑team participation.

Users can’t open gifts even though they report activity
Check your Game rules:

  • Make sure the Gift minimum value matches the size of their activities.

  • Confirm they’re reporting on the correct metric and within the competition timeframe.

  • Ensure the Gift open deadline isn’t too short for your use case.

Some users end up without any gifts
Verify that you created enough prizes for all participants. If you want everyone to receive at least one gift, you must create one prize per user.
