How do I set up the SalesScreen TV app on a Google TV streamer?

You install the SalesScreen TV app on your Google TV streamer, connect it to Wi‑Fi and a Google account, then pair it to a SalesScreen screen using the QR code or activation code in the mobile app.

Prerequisites

  • A Google TV / Chromecast with Google TV (streamer + remote) plugged into a TV via HDMI

  • The device is connected to power and Wi‑Fi

  • A Google account to sign in on the streamer

  • At least one TV screen set up in SalesScreen

  • SalesScreen mobile app installed and you are logged in as Admin

Step 1 – Set up the Google TV streamer

  1. Plug the power cable into the streamer and a power outlet.

  2. Connect the streamer to the TV with an HDMI cable.

  3. Turn on the TV and follow the on‑screen steps:

    • Pair the remote (hold the left + Home buttons together when prompted).

    • Select language.

    • Connect to Wi‑Fi.

    • Sign in with a Google account.

Use the default/recommended settings; you don’t need personal results or voice match for a TV screen.

Step 2 – Install the SalesScreen TV app

  1. From the Google TV home screen, go to Apps → Search for apps and games.

  2. Search for “SalesScreen TV”.

  3. Select the SalesScreen TV app and click Install.

  4. After install, find it under Your apps and optionally:

    • Use Reorder to move it to the front so it’s easy to find.

Step 3 – Open the app and allow permissions

  1. Open SalesScreen TV on the Google TV.

  2. Accept any requested permissions, especially:

    • Allow the app to display over other apps (needed for full‑screen slideshow).

  3. A QR code and activation code (4 letters) will appear on the TV.

Step 4 – Connect the screen from the SalesScreen mobile app

You can connect via QR code (recommended) or manually:

Option A – Use the QR code

  1. On your phone, open the camera or the SalesScreen mobile app.

  2. Scan the QR code shown on the TV.

  3. This opens Connect screen in the SalesScreen app.

Option B – Open Connect screen manually

  1. Open the SalesScreen mobile app.

  2. Tap the plus (+) button in the middle.

  3. Choose Connect screen (visible for Admins).

Then:

  1. Either create a new TV screen or select an existing screen you’ve already configured with playlists.

  2. Enter the 4‑letter activation code from the TV (for example PWKF).

  3. Tap Connect screen.

The Google TV app now loads the slides and playlists for that screen.

Step 5 – Prevent the device from turning off

  1. On Google TV, go to Settings (cog icon) → System → Shut off timer.

  2. Set Shut off timer to Never.

This prevents the device from going into power‑save / screensaver mode during the day.

Step 6 – Optional shortcuts and controls

  • In Settings, assign the star ★ button on the remote as a shortcut to SalesScreen TV so you can open it instantly.

  • While the SalesScreen slideshow is running, press the Up button to open the in‑app menu where you can:

    • See the screen name you’re connected to

    • Refresh the screen

    • Clear cache (helpful after layout/font updates)

    • Disconnect to pair this device with a different SalesScreen screen

What if this doesn’t work?

The Google TV seems stuck on the G logo

  • After updates, startup can take longer—wait a bit.

  • If it’s stuck for several minutes, unplug the power, wait a few seconds, and plug it back in.

I can’t find the SalesScreen TV app in Google TV

  • Make sure you searched for “SalesScreen TV” under Apps → Search for apps and games.

  • Check that the device is signed into a Google account with access to the Play Store.

The QR/activation code doesn’t connect

  • Confirm you entered the exact 4 letters shown on the TV.

  • If it fails, close and reopen SalesScreen TV on the Google device to get a new code, then try again.

The TV goes to sleep or shows a screensaver

  • Recheck Settings → System → Shut off timer and set it to Never.
