How do I get started with Scout AI?

Open Scout, ask about your team's results and let it set up competitions, missions and posts for you.

🙋 This article is for: Managers, Company Admins and Account Owners who want to use Scout AI in SalesScreen.

⭐ Available on: all plans.

What is Scout AI?

Scout is SalesScreen's AI assistant. You ask a question in plain language, and Scout answers from your SalesScreen data. You can also ask Scout to set things up for you, such as a competition, a mission or a feed post, and to build a report page you can shape as you like.

Scout only shows what you can already see in SalesScreen. Regular users (sellers) don't have Scout chat. They see their own Insights on their profile and benefit from what their manager sets up.

Open Scout

  • Header button: click Scout in the top bar, or press Ctrl+J (Cmd+J on Mac). Scout opens in a panel beside the page you are on.

  • Full page: click Scout AI in the left menu. Your recent chats are listed on this page, and you can search them.

  • Mobile app: Scout is also in the SalesScreen mobile app.

Ask your first question

  1. Open Scout and type your question in the box.

  2. Press Enter to send it. Keep each question under 1,000 characters.

  3. Read the answer. Scout can show tables and ask you to pick between options.

Questions to try:

  • Who is leading my team this month?

  • Who on my team needs attention this week?

  • How has [name] done over the last three months?

  • Which of last quarter's competitions moved the numbers?

Two things make answers better:

  • The page you are on. Scout knows which page you are looking at, such as a competition or a team. A small chip above the box shows it. Click the X on the chip to leave the page out of your next question.

  • @ mentions. Type @ to name a person, team, department or metric. Only what you can see is offered.

Let Scout set things up

Scout can create competitions, battles, missions, endorsements, feed posts, metrics, boards, cohorts and targets. Tell Scout what you want, for example: Suggest a competition for next week for the Oslo team.

  1. Scout shows a card called Needs your OK with a preview of what it will create.

  2. Click Approve to create it, or Deny to change nothing.

  • Nothing is created before you approve.

  • Competitions are saved as drafts. You publish them yourself.

  • If you send another message before you decide, the open card expires. Ask again if you still want it.

  • The same rules as in SalesScreen apply. For example, a manager can create battles and missions for themselves and the people they manage.

  • A module must be on for its tools to work, such as Competitions, Battles, Missions or Endorsements. Cohorts need the Pro or Enterprise plan.

Scout creates new items. To change or delete an existing competition, battle or mission, do it in SalesScreen.

Build a report page and shape it as you like

Scout can turn an answer into a page, such as a report or a recap, that you bring to a 1:1, a team meeting or a leadership update. You decide what is on it, and you can keep changing it by asking Scout.

  1. Ask a question about results, for example about a competition, a team or last month.

  2. Click Make a report, Make a competition overview or Make a recap when Scout offers it. Or ask for one: Build a one-page report on how the Oslo team did last month.

  3. The page opens beside the chat. Ask Scout to change it as many times as you like (see the examples below).

  4. Click Export PDF to download it, or Full screen to present it.

Ask Scout to add, remove or change parts of the page:

  • Add a leaderboard for this month.

  • Add a trend of calls over the last three months.

  • Add talking points for my 1:1 with [name].

  • Remove the comparison and add a spotlight on [name].

  • Change the title to "Q4 kick-off".

Pages are built from parts such as key numbers, trends, comparisons, a leaderboard or podium, a spotlight on a person, talking points and a list of people to watch.

  • Every change is saved as a new version. Open the version list to go back to an earlier one.

  • A page shows the numbers as they were when it was made.

Draft posts and endorsements faster

  • Feed post: in the post box, use Draft with Scout for a daily summary, a weekly summary, yesterday's highlight, a momentum highlight or a competitions status. Select text and click Improve with Scout to make it clearer, shorter, longer or funnier.

  • Endorsement: choose a person or a team and click Draft based on performance.

  • Competition: click the Rally tile on a competition page. Scout drafts a message that tags the participants. You review it before you post.

You always review a draft before it is posted.

What if this doesn't work?

I can't see Scout. Scout is for Managers, Company Admins and Account Owners. Check your role. A Company Admin can also switch Scout off for the company under

Manage > Settings > Scout AI. Ask your admin if it is off.

Scout stopped answering. You can ask about 20 questions a minute. Wait a minute and ask again.

Scout didn't create what I asked for. Check that you clicked Approve before sending another message. If the card expired, ask again. Also check that the module is on for your company, for example Battles for battles.

Scout doesn't show what I expected. Scout only shows data you can see. Ask a colleague with wider access, or check your role and the teams you manage.
