You can create a competition based on average performance (for example, average number of units per report) by first building a metric that uses the Average formula, and then using that metric in a Standard competition.

Step 1: Create an Average metric

  1. Go to Manage → Metrics and create a new metric (or edit an existing one).

  2. In Step 2 – Formula, select Average.

  3. In Measured in, choose which number field you want to average (for example, Quantity, Value, etc.).

  4. Click Continue to formatting and then Save metric.

This metric will now calculate the average value per report for the field you selected.

Step 2: Create a Standard competition using the Average metric

  1. Go to Competitions and click + New competition.

  2. Under Browse, select Standard.

  3. In Step 2: What would you like to compete on?, choose Single metric.

  4. Select the Average metric you just created (for example, Average Sales KPI).

  5. Complete the rest of the setup:

    • Step 1 – Set start and end date/time.

    • Step 3 – Choose who is competing (Users, Teams, or Custom Teams).

    • Step 4–6 – Set goals (optional), prizes, winners, and advanced options.

  6. Give the competition a Title (e.g., “Highest Average Value”) and click Save and publish.
