Prerequisites
Gamification features and Competitions are enabled for your company
You have permission to create/edit Metrics and Competitions
Step 1 – Create an Average metric
Go to Manage → Metrics.
Create a new metric (or edit an existing one you want to turn into an average metric).
In Step 2 – Formula, select Average.
In Measured in, choose which numeric field you want to average (for example Quantity, Value, etc.).
Click Continue to formatting, configure how you want the metric displayed, and then Save metric.
This metric now calculates the average value per report for the field you selected.
Step 2 – Create a Standard competition using the Average metric
Go to Competitions and click + New competition.
Under Browse, select Standard.
In Step 2: What would you like to compete on?, choose Single metric.
Select the Average metric you just created (for example Average Sales KPI).
Then complete the remaining steps of the Standard competition wizard:
Step 1 – When is it?
Set the start and end date/time.Step 3 – Who is competing?
Choose Users, Teams, or Custom Teams, and select participants.Step 4–6 – Goals, prizes, winners, advanced options (optional)
Set goals (if you want explicit targets).
Define prizes and winners.
Adjust any advanced options (events, visibility, etc.).
Finally:
Give the competition a clear Title (for example Highest Average Value).
Click Save and publish.
Users or teams now compete on their average performance, not just totals.
What if this doesn’t work?
I can’t select “Average” in the metric formula
You might not have permission to edit metrics, or Gamification may not be fully enabled. Ask a Company Admin to confirm your access and plan.
My Average metric doesn’t appear in the competition
Check that the metric is saved and active, and that it’s available for the entities (users/teams) you’re including. Refresh the competition wizard and look again in the metric list.
The averages look wrong in the competition
Open the metric under Manage → Metrics and review:
Measured in field (Quantity vs Value, etc.)
Any filters or data sources attached to the metric
Adjust and save, then give the system a bit of time to recalculate.
