Why is the wrong team, department or feed showing on my screen?

If your TV screen shows data, celebrations or feed activity from the wrong team, department or office, the slide or feed is most likely connected to the wrong team scope.

Written by Emil Lindblom

Overview

This article explains why a TV screen can show data, feed posts or celebrations from another team, department or office, and how to fix it.

The article is for Company Admins and Screen Admins who manage screens, playlists and slides.

Different parts of a screen are controlled by different settings. A leaderboard slide uses its own team filter, a feed slide shows a feed with its own sources and team setup, and celebration popups are controlled by both the activity type and the screen.

Which plans include this?

Screens, slides and feeds are available on all plans.

Requirements

Before you start, make sure that:

  • Screens are enabled for your company.

  • You have Screen Admin or Company Admin access.

  • You know which team, department or office the screen should show.

  • You know which screen or slide is showing the wrong data.

When this matters

Use this article when:

  • A screen for one office shows data from another office.

  • A leaderboard or metric slide shows the wrong team or department.

  • A feed slide shows posts from teams that should not appear on that screen.

  • A feed slide shows small deals or every single report.

  • Celebrations for the whole company appear on a local team screen.

  • A team was recently moved, renamed or added, and the screen now shows unexpected data.

How it works

A screen shows information from several sources, and each source has its own setting. One setting can be correct while another is wrong, so check all of them.

What you see on the screen

Where to change it

Leaderboards, numbers and other slide data

Slide data

A slide can be limited to selected teams, departments or users. If the slide filter includes all teams, or the wrong team, the screen shows data from the wrong office, team or department.

Feed slides

A feed slide shows posts from one selected feed. The feed's Sources decide which events create posts, and which teams the posts come from.

A feed can have three types of sources:

Source type

Examples

What you can set

Features

Achievements, Battle, Endorsement, Birthday, New Employee, Work Anniversary, Rewards, Mission

On/off and custom team filter

Metrics

Revenue Sold, Meeting Booked

Threshold and custom team filter

Activity types

Your company's activity types and activities

Threshold and custom team filter

Teams: by default, only content from the teams assigned to the feed appears. A source can use Set custom team filter to include other teams. The feed then shows posts from teams that are not assigned to it.

Threshold: a metric or activity type source can have a threshold. Only reports that reach the threshold create posts in the feed.

Example: If Revenue Sold has a threshold of $1,000, reports under $1,000 do not create posts in the feed. Only larger deals appear, including on feed slides that use this feed.

Default feed and team-specific feeds

Feed type

Description

Default feed

Every account has one Default feed, and all users can access it. A feed slide connected to the Default feed can show content from the whole company

Team-specific feed

An additional feed assigned to selected teams. Use it when a screen should show content for a specific team, department or office

To show only one team or office on a feed slide, connect the slide to the correct team-specific feed.

Celebration popups

Celebration popups are controlled at two levels:

Level

Setting

What it controls

Activity type

Show popup on screen

Whether reports with that activity trigger a full-screen popup on screens

Screen

Show celebration popup for

Which teams' celebrations appear on that screen

If Show celebration popup for is set to All, celebrations from the whole company appear on that screen. To show only local celebrations on an office screen, limit the setting to the office's teams.

Changes may not appear immediately

After you change a slide, feed or screen setting, reload the screen so it shows the latest configuration and data.

How to show the correct team, department or feed

Step 1: Open the slide

  1. In the left-hand menu, under Other, click Screens.

  2. Click the Slides tab.

  3. Find the slide showing the wrong data. Use Search and filters if needed.

  4. Click the three-dots menu on the slide row and click Edit.

Step 2: Check the slide's data filter

  1. In the slide editor, check which teams, departments or users the slide is set to show.

  2. If the slide shows all teams, change it to the team, department or office the screen should display.

  3. Click Save.

Step 3: Check which feed the feed slide uses

  1. If the problem is on a feed slide, check which feed the slide is connected to.

  2. If the slide uses the Default feed and the screen should only show one team or office, select that team's feed instead.

  3. Click Save.

Step 4: Check the feed's selected teams

  1. Go to the Feed page and select the feed used by the slide.

  2. Click the three dots in the upper-right corner and click Edit.

  3. Under Teams, check Selected teams.

  4. Click Remove next to any team that should not appear on this screen.

Step 5: Check the feed's sources

  1. In the same feed settings, scroll to Sources.

  2. Check that only the sources the screen should show are turned on.

  3. Look for sources that use Set custom team filter. If a source includes All teams or teams that should not appear, update the filter to include only the correct teams.

  4. For metrics and activity types, check the Threshold. Set a threshold if only larger results should create posts, for example $1,000 for Revenue Sold.

  5. Click Save.

Step 6: Check the screen's celebration popup setting

  1. In the left-hand menu, under Other, click Screens.

  2. On the Screens tab, click the affected screen. The screen's settings open on the right.

  3. Under Show celebration popup for, select only the teams that should show celebration popups on this screen.

Step 7: Check the activity's popup setting (if needed)

Do this step if an activity triggers celebrations that should not appear on screens at all.

  1. Click Manage in the bottom-left corner.

  2. Under Company, click Activity Types.

  3. Select the activity type and the activity.

  4. On the Notifications tab, turn Show popup on screen on or off.

Step 8: Reload the screen

  1. In the left-hand menu, under Other, click Screens.

  2. On the Screens tab, click the Reload icon on the screen row.

  3. If several screens are affected, click Reload all screens.

Expected result

After you update the correct settings:

  • Leaderboards and metric slides show data only from the selected team, department or users.

  • Feed slides show posts from the correct feed.

  • Feed posts come only from the teams included in the feed and its source filters.

  • Feed posts for metrics and activity types appear only when the report reaches the threshold.

  • Celebration popups appear only for the teams selected on the screen, and only for activities with Show popup on screen turned on.

  • The changes appear after the screen is reloaded.

What if this doesn't work?

Check the following before contacting Support:

  1. The slide's data filter includes only the correct team, department or users.

  2. The feed slide uses the correct feed, not the Default feed.

  3. The feed's Selected teams includes only the intended teams.

  4. No feed source uses a custom team filter with extra teams or All teams.

  5. Metric and activity type sources have the correct Threshold.

  6. The screen's Show celebration popup for setting includes only the intended teams.

  7. The activity's Show popup on screen setting is correct.

  8. You reloaded the screen after making changes.

If the screen still shows the wrong team, department or feed, contact SalesScreen Support and include:

  • Company name

  • Screen name

  • Slide name and slide type

  • Feed name, if it is a feed slide

  • Activity or metric name, if the issue is about celebrations or feed posts

  • Which team, department or office the screen should show
